In the mid-1980s, the Swedish mining company Boliden exported 20,000 tonnes of toxic waste to the Chilean desert town of Arica. The waste was improperly disposed of, leading to severe health consequences for the local population, including cancer and birth defects. Decades later, survivors seek justice in a groundbreaking transnational corporate accountability trial. The film follows this legal battle, highlighting the enduring impact of environmental negligence and the fight for justice.

Zenica, a Bosnian town, is plagued by high levels of air pollution, primarily due to a massive steel and coking plant that dominates the city. Residents suffer from increased rates of cancer, childhood diabetes, and respiratory diseases. The citizens’ organization Eko Forum fights for environmental accountability, demanding that the factory’s emissions be monitored as required by environmental permits. The film documents their struggle over seven years, revealing the complex interplay between health, employment, politics, and international investments.
